Ascension
college was conceived in the minds of
members of abudu family who on discussion of happenings in the school
system in our usual kitchen conference, started mounting pressure on me then, to
leave, resign or retire, having taught for twenty two{22}years .Though i felt
like leaving but was attached to each set of student offering my subject that
got to sss3.
The
incident that helped me make up my mind was frightening. I was standing in
front of my office in government secondary school, ijaniki, lagos at breaktime
, when i saw one of our male teachers running into the school compound with his
face covered with blood. Apparently, his head had been smashed with a
sledgehammer by our own students. The reason for that inhuman act is left for
the reader to deduce ,or familiarity ,they say ,breads contempt. While still
standing on the first floor of that building, i made up my mind to retire from
the school system. I decide that the time was ripe for me to launch out on my
own, with help and cooperation from members of my family (especially my husband
and friend life companion and confidant) to provide a sound and balanced
educational opportunity for boys and girls.
